1. Don’t apologize to the audience when a mistake is made. Apologies draw attention to the mistake when no one would have otherwise noticed. Instead speak with confidence and be relaxed. If a mistake needs to be corrected, address the mistake without apologizing and the flow of the speech will be maintained.

2. Arrive early to a presentation. Unexpected delays before speeches can cause anxiety in the speaker. Arriving early allows the speaker to familiarize themselves with their surroundings and get to know their audience. Always plan to be early for speeches, it really helps!

3. Never give up on a speech. While making a speech, it may seem like mistakes are being made one after another. Do not allow yourself to feel discouraged to the point of mentally and psychologically shutting down as you continue to speak. The body language and tone of someone who has given up on a speech is far worse than the actual mistakes being made.
